In April 2019, the creation of the individual farm Etruscan Kantharos farm in Gelsomini Flavia was formalized. The company’s headquarters are located in the municipality of Marta, a charming village overlooking Lake Bolsena, the rest of the company is located in the municipalities of Ischia di Castro and Canino. The land has, however, an older history in fact derived from maternal and paternal grandparents. The company’s reality is familiar.

“The choice to continue the journey, started by my grandparents, was very heartfelt. Despite the many difficulties encountered to date and those I will still have to face I am fully convinced that I am on the right track” says Flavia “I grew up in contact with nature both plants and animals, I think I had a great opportunity since I was able to experiment and enjoy large and healthy spaces. A huge passion binds me to horses, in the past my grandparents used the horse or other shooting animals for groundwork and other operations. Also in the company logo is reported a horse is the typical Etruscan Horse! After finishing my university studies in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, I developed the awareness that I wanted to enhance a territory through agricultural products; the first step was the CANine DOP certification of our olive groves and more will follow.”

Everything brings back to the territory of Tuscia. Together with the promotion of the territory it is necessary to offer high quality of the final product and this is where the professionalism comes into play in following all the stages of the production process, from the care of the plants in the field until you get to the finished product ready to be consumed.

Alongside the production of Oil evo DOP Canino, truffles are harvested in the farm (Tuber aestivum Vitt.). Planted in the early 1990s, it covers two hectares of land. There are many factors that influence the production of the black truffle of Summer especially the seasonal trend. The production of a single type of truffle is characterized by our company! In fact, it would not be possible to produce other varieties of truffles in the company because the environmental variables that allow its development are closely linked to the territory.

The link with the territory is also highlighted by the name of the farm, in fact Etruscan Kantharos means Kantharos Etruscan. Kantharos was an Etruscan cup for drinking wine and is typically buccaro!
